More and more Ukrainian cities are finding their twin city among Finnish cities. Among them is the city of Vantaa, which became twin city to the city of Boryspil. Both cities have a lot in common, in particular, they are located in the capital region and have international airports with the ability to receive the planes of the world’s leading airlines.
A special part of the visit of the Ukrainian delegation from the city of Boryspil was a visit to the Logistics center of the Ukrainian Association in Finland. Among the delegates from Boryspil was the secretary of the city council, Vladyslav Baichas, and from the city of Vantaa, the Manager of International Affairs, Elina Värtö.
The guests were hosted at the Logistics Center by the chairman of the board of the Ukrainian Association in Finland Vassili Goutsoul, coordinator Serhii Shevchenko, and Anita Koskinen-Vasilenko, who is responsible for logistics in Finland. Unfortunately, the mayor of Boryspil, Volodymyr Borysenko, could not attend, because since September 2023, he is defending the sovereignty of Ukraine in The Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The chairman of the Association’s board told the guests about the association’s projects that provide support to Ukrainians both in Finland and in Ukraine. It was said about Vallila Help Center for Ukrainians, Lippulaiva Ukraina Help Center, Ukrainalainen keskus / Український центр, ПЛАСТ у Фінляндії / PLAST in Finland, Ukrainalaisen elokuvan päivät/ Ukrainian film days, Auta Ukrainaa, Auta Ukrainaa Logistiikkakeskus and close cooperation with companies in other cities such as Kirkkonummi, Tampere, Pietarsaari, Kotka, Porvoo and other.
Serhii Shevchenko with Anita Koskinen-Vasilenko conducted a detailed tour of the logistics center and discussed opportunities for cooperation. The guests were impressed by the high organization of the process of collecting humanitarian aid to Ukraine and the results of 770 tons shipped, which were achieved in 1.5 years. Serhii Shevchenko repeatedly emphasized that all this became possible thanks to the self-sacrifice of the volunteers of the Auta Ukrainaa Logistics Center and the Association, close cooperation with other humanitarian projects in Finland, the uninterrupted flow of aid from Finnish citizens and Finnish organizations, and the help of Finnish logistics companies such as Posti, PostNord Finland, Matkahuolto, Niemi in Finland, Ahola Transport and DSV abroad.
Together to victory and peace!
