“While it is fine weather mend your sails” or “Prepare a sleigh in the summer” – every Ukrainian knows this proverb. It means that in order to overwinter well, you need to prepare from the summer. So the volunteers of the Auta Ukrainaa Logistiikkakeskus of the Ukrainalaisten yhdistys Suomessa ry are preparing for the winter in Ukraine in August. In cooperation with Katja Nieminen and the transport support of Transport Hosike Oy, on August 13, 2024, 198 wood stoves were loaded into 71 trucks, which were received in cooperation with Omri ry – Pro Ukraina. Often, such stoves are the last chance to warm up both for defenders on the front line and for civilians in the front-line zone where electricity and gas supply is not possible.

In addition to the stoves, the consignment included medical equipment and supplies, trolleys, lorators, computer monitors, fire extinguishers, beddings, clothes for adults and children, equipment and much more that came to us for Ukraine from the friendly Finnish people and private companies, for that the Ukrainalaisten yhdistys Suomessa ry is infinitely grateful. The total weight of aid in 71 trucks distributed in Ukraine by the Combat Volunteer of Ukraine ( Благодійний фонд “Бойовий волонтер України” ) amounted to more than 19 tons.

Despite the recent significant successes of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the winter of 2024-2025 promises to be difficult due to missile and drone strikes on the energy system, just like the previous two. Therefore, the Ukrainalaisten yhdistys Suomessa ry is asking for help in preparing for winter.
