On the morning of the anniversary of the beginning of the full-scale war in Ukraine, 24.2. a huge double ice carousel with the Ukrainian flag in the middle was created in Töölönlahti. It was created in memory of the 450 children who have been killed in war during the year 2022. Outside the rotating flag, another carousel rotates in a different direction – this outer ring has 450 pieces of ice, symbolizing the innocent lives taken.
The carousel for Ukraine was created by inventor Janne Käpylehto, entrepreneur Tiina Saukko, and municipal manager Sami Alasara. Recently Janne and his friends have done the 500-meter piece, breaking the world record.
