Rally against Russian participation in Helsinki+50 Conference
As the world prepares to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Helsinki Final Act — a landmark agreement built on principles of sovereignty, human rights, and peace — we gather to raise our voices against the participation of Russian representatives in the Helsinki+50 Conference at Finlandia Hall.
Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, ongoing since 2022, is a direct and violent betrayal of the very principles the Helsinki Accords were built upon. From the illegal occupation of Ukrainian territory to the systematic targeting of civilians, forced deportations, and the destruction of vital infrastructure — Russia has made a mockery of its commitments under international law.
Inviting Russian representatives to this conference is not diplomacy — it is the legitimization of aggression. It sends a dangerous message: that a state can violate international norms, commit war crimes, and still be welcomed at the table of peace and dialogue without accountability.
Such participation compromises Europe’s security by normalizing the presence of an aggressor in forums meant to promote cooperation and peace.
Let us not allow this anniversary to become a symbol of appeasement — but a rallying cry for justice. Join us!
