Concert: Celebrating Ukrainian Independence Day

All profits from the concert will go to help music schools in Ukraine and support young musicians affected by the war.

The concert is organized in cooperation with Töölö Parish and supported by the Svenska kulturfonden and the Jenny and Antti Wihuri Foundation.

Pianist Justas Stasevskij studied from 2004-2016 at the Sibelius Academy with Erik.T.Tawaststjerna and Antti Siirala. In 2012 he began to study chamber music at the University of Music and performing Arts in Vienna with Avedis Kouyoumdjian. Graduation with distinction in 2018. Since 2016 master studies with Christopher Hinterhuber. Numerous successes at piano competitions. In 2016 finalist at the international piano competition of Tallinn. Various performances at music festivals and at the Vienna Musikverein as chamber musician and lied accompanist. In 2018 and 2019 part of the Lincoln Center Stage Piano Quintet. Currently, Justas is working as a piano teacher at the Kuopio Conservatory and at the Sibelius academy in Helsinki. In March 2023 Justas Stasevskij and singer Erik Rousi presented their first CD of their Schubert’s great song series with Alba Records, Die Schöne Müllerin.
The soloist of the evening is a world-renowned cellist, Jonathan Roozeman.
Finnish-Dutch cellist and rising star, Jonathan Roozeman is already establishing himself as a player of exceptional musical integrity. His phenomenal, expansive and versatile sound lends itself not only to works of the core classical repertory, but those by Kokkonen, Vieuxtemps and Sallinen. He has collaborated with conductors including Christoph Eschenbach, Sakari Oramo, Esa-Pekka Salonen, Osmo Vänskä, Dima Slobodeniouk, Jukka-Pekka Saraste and Santtu-Matias Rouvali.
Ukrainian born flutist Iryna Gorkun-Silén has been performing as a soloist, in chamber music ensembles and with orchestras in Europe, USA and South Korea. Iryna finished Master in Arts and Master in Pedagogy and Konzerdiplom at the ZHdK, Zürich with Prof. Philippe Racine. She is a doctoral student at the Sibelius academy, DocMus. Iryna participated as an active student at numerous masterclasses: with Emmanuel Pahud, Felix Renggli, Barthold Kuijken, Jose-Daniel Castellon, Peter-Lukas Graf, Davide Formisano, Mikael Helasvuo, Sabine Poyé-Morel, Andrea Lieberknecht, Petri Alanko, Denis Bouriakov, William Bennett, Sir James Galway. Iryna has won prizes at the international music competitions in France, Ukraine, Italy and Switzerland. Iryna is currently finishing her doctoral studies at the Sibelius academy. Additionally, Iryna studies conducting at the Prof.Jorma Panula academy.
